Fii doesn't really have a single "purpose" on the ship, she's just always called around to do whatever odd jobs people need her to do at any given time. Though as much help as she does around the ship, she is still sometimes treated as a child by the most brash of the ship.
Before the Ship
Fii was a boxer in her pre-story life, it's not that she was bad but her colleagues didn't much care for her and one cheap shot during a fight where her career was on the line later, she was ostracized from ever returning to the ring.
